ALL ABOUT US
Our Town Committee
The Andover Democratic Town Committee (ADTC) champions Democratic values and supports our candidates at the local, state, and federal levels in their pursuit of public office.
Joining the ADTC means more than becoming a member; it means becoming a part of the local voice of the Democratic Party. This involves sharing the belief that together we are stronger, achieving more together than individually. Our commitment is grounded in the idea that our nation thrives when everyone has a fair opportunity, contributes equally, and follows the same rules.
At our gatherings, you'll stay informed about Andover, Beacon Hill, and Washington developments. We frequently discuss significant political news and host representatives at all levels, along with candidates. This is your chance to engage with Andover, contribute to Democratic progress, and participate in discussions on issues affecting everyone.
If this resonates with you, explore our website, join our monthly meetings and other events, and consider joining as an Associate Member.

Our Goals
The Democratic Town Committee is dedicated to supporting Democratic candidates at various levels of government – local, state, and federal. Our primary focus is on facilitating the election of Democratic candidates to crucial positions, including local school boards, select boards, and key roles in the Massachusetts State Senate and House of Representatives.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to promoting key Democratic values. We advocate for public education, believing in its vital role in shaping our communities. Additionally, we are staunch supporters of equal opportunities for all, working towards a society where everyone has a chance to succeed, regardless of background or circumstances.
By engaging in these activities, the Democratic Town Committee actively contributes to the democratic process, striving to create a community and society that reflects the principles of fairness, equality, and quality education.

Our
Principles

The ADTC, representing the local Democratic Party branch representing Andover, consists of three member types:
-
Elected Members: The majority, totaling 35 members, are elected during the quadrennial Presidential Primary. They serve four-year terms.
- Life-time Members: Members with a 20-year tenure may become life-time members with the same rights as Elected Members.
-
Associate Members: Internally elected, Associate Members support the Committee's work, with no set limit on their number.
-
Ex Officiis Members: These members have voting rights due to their service on the Democratic State Committee and residence in Andover.
Vacancies in the Committee are filled through a vote by the ADTC, and Associate Members are the primary candidates for filling such vacancies. An Executive Board is appointed to oversee the day-to-day activities of the ADTC, and all members are enrolled Democrats.
